Wedmore Neighbourhood Plan UPDATE ‘Working Draft’ : MAY 2018

We’re pleased to publish our “Working Draft” Plan to enable all interested parties to give their views.  Your views are now sought on the ‘Working Draft’ Plan for a three week period (11th May to 1st June). This is a non statutory consultation to give everyone an additional chance to comment on the emerging plan and its policies.

This update sets out what the Neighbourhood Plan Group has done since the last consultation event in November 2017.  The full draft working plan can be downloaded FREE here (in PDF format you need Adobe Acrobat to read it):

Or you can purchase a full printed version from Wedmore Parish Council for £5 (including p&p). The full plan can be seen at The Parish Room on the following dates

  • Friday 11th May (3 pm – 7 pm)
  • Saturday 12th May (10 1m – 1 pm)
  • Tuesday 15th May (6 pm – 9 pm).

You are strongly advised to read the whole plan before commenting.

Blue Cedar Consultation

We have been informed by Blue Cedar Homes that it is consulting on its proposals for 11 retirement homes on the Holdenhurst site.

This is not the Neighbourhood Plan proposal suggested in November 2017.  They are proposing to create a new access off Cheddar Road (not our proposal to use the car park access) and will not provide on-site affordable housing.

In view of this, the Neighbourhood Plan is likely to withdraw its support for the development of the joint Holdenhurst / Wells Almshouses Trust land.

November Consultation Process is now closed

Thank you to all parishioners who took the time to complete our offline and online consultation document and giving us your very valuable views.

The consultation is now closed with effect from 22nd December.

The Wedmore Neighbourhood Plan may be allocating sites for development in the Parish of Wedmore.

In order to understand what sites could be available for consideration in Wedmore Parish, the Neighbourhood Plan Group has undertaken a ‘Call for Sites’,  which has now closed.

If you would like to give us feedback on any specific site email the Parish Council (make a note of the “Reference Number” as you’ll need it when filling out the form).

Member’s Declarations of Interests available from 3rd January 2017

The Neighbourhood Plan Team agreed to publish team Members Declarations of Interests (in relation to their Neighbourhood Plan business).

These will be available for inspection by appointment only at the Council Room from 3rd January 2017.

Wedmore Draft Housing Provision Published

On the 7th December 2016, the Executive of Sedgemoor District Council considered a draft of the new Local Plan.  If approved by Full Council, this is proposed to go on six weeks public consultation from the 30thJanuary 2017.

 With regard to Wedmore, the minimum housing provision to be met between 2011 and 2032 is 118 homes.  However, if completions since 2011 are deducted along with unimplemented permissions (including Cross Farm), the minimum figure to be allocated by the Neighbourhood Plan falls to 50.

 The Neighbourhood Plan Group will be asking for possible allocation sites to be submitted for assessment in the first half of 2017.
